Sister Katherine Broderick, IHM

Sister Katherine Broderick, IHM, (formerly Sister M. Paulita) of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Wednesday, November 20,1991, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA, after an extended illness.

She was born on November 24, 1914, in Cranston, Rhode Island.  She was the daughter of the late Paul and Katherine Connell Broderick.  She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1933, received the religious habit on April 24, 1934, and made profession of her vows on April 30, 1936.

Sister Katherine taught intermediate grades at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Elementary School in Dunmore, PA, and Nativity Elementary School in Scranton, PA.  She also served on the faculty of several IHM schools located in New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.  

From 1984 until the time of her death, Sister Katherine served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Paul.

She is survived by a sister, M. Virginia of Providence, Rhode Island.

The funeral will be Friday, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the Marian Convent Chapel, followed by interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Thursday afternoon and evening.
