Sister M. Terentia McNulty, IHM

Sister M. Terentia McNulty, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, February 6, 2005, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on February 28, 1908 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and given the name Catherine. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Agnes Walsh McNulty.  She entered the IHM Congregation on October 15, 1925, made temporary profession of her vows on December 28, 1927, and final profession of her vows on July 31, 1931.

Sister Terentia served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Rose High School in Carbondale, PA, from 1928 to 1932; St. Patrick Elementary School in Olyphant, PA, from 1932 to 1936; St. Joseph Elementary School in Williamsport, PA, from 1938 to 1941; South Scranton Central Catholic High School in Scranton, PA, from 1951 to 1955 and 1966 to 1973; Central Catholic High School in Kingston, PA, from 1955 to 1960; St. Paul High School in Scranton, PA, from 1960 to 1961; Sacred Heart High School in Carbondale, PA, from 1973 to 1984; St. Ann Elementary School in Nyack, NY; St. Dominic School in Oyster Bay, NY; and at schools located in Baltimore, MD.

From 1985 until the time of her death, Sister Terentia served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English/Latin from Marywood College, and a Master of Arts Degree in English from Fordham University.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Jerome, and three sisters, Jane, Clare Carroll and Sister Coronata, IHM.

She is survived by a nephew, William Bowles of Weems, VA, grandnieces and grandnephews, including Kathy Bowles of Burke, VA, Sharon Bowles Weichart of Ellicott, MD, and Kevin Bowles of Huntington, MD. 

The funeral will be Wednesday, February 9 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
