Sister Mary Kathleen Paulus, IHM

Sister Mary Kathleen Paulus, IHM, (formerly known as Sister Catherine of Siena) of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died Friday, January 8, 1982, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, after an illness. She was in the twenty-fourth year of her religious life.

She was born on May 6, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland, and was the daughter of Catherine Carroll Paulus and the late George J. Paulus. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 7, 1955, received the religious habit on March 12, 1956, and made profession of her vows on March 13, 1958.

Sister Mary Kathleen served as a kindergarten teacher at St. Rose Elementary School in Carbondale, PA, as well as at elementary schools located in New Bern, NC.

Sister also served as a catechetical instructor at St. Peter's Catechetical Center in Wellsboro, PA; Resurrection Catechetical Centerin Muncy, PA; and St. Patrick Catechetical Center in Milford, PA.

In addition to her mother, Catherine Paulus of Baltimore, MD, she is also survived by several cousins, including Mrs. Ethel Hunt.

The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Rose Church, Carbondale, with interment to follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at St. Rose's Convent on Sunday afternoon or evening. The family asks that no flowers be sent.
