Sister M. Rose Shanahan, IHM

Sister M. Rose Shanahan, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on December 31, 1966 at St. Paul Convent in Edgewood, Rhode Island.

Daughter of the late Edward J. and Anna G. Oley Shanahan, she was born on April 26, 1910 in Pompey, New York; and given the name Mary.  She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1929, received the religious habit on April 21, 1930, and made profession of her vows on April 21, 1932.

Sister Rose served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Thomas in Manton, RI, from 1932 to 1933; Sacred Heart in Jermyn, from 1933 to 1935; St. Joseph in Williamsport, from 1935 to 1940; St. Peter of Alcantara in Port Washington, NY, from 1940 to 1941; St. Patrick in Oneida, NY, from 1941 to 1949; Holy Rosary in Scranton, from 1949 to 1953; Most Holy Rosary in Syracuse, NY, from 1953 to 1957; and St. Paul in Edgewood, RI, from 1957 until the time of her death.

Interment will follow the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
