Sister M. Noreen Falvey, IHM

Sister M. Noreen Falvey, IHM, of the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Sunday, July 8, 1979 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on June 6, 1904 in New York, NY, and was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Nora Keefe Falvey.  She entered the IHM Congregation on March 24, 1926, received the religious habit on August 15, 1926, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1928.

As a teacher at the intermediate level, Sister Noreen served on the faculty of the following schools: Holy Rosary Elementary School in Scranton, PA; Our Lady of Good Counsel Elementary School in Inwood, NY; St. Ann Elementary School in Nyack, NY; Mount Holly Regional School in Mt. Holly, New Jersey; as well as elementary schools located in Pittsburgh, PA, and New York, NY.

Prior to her illness, Sister Noreen served as assistant moderator for the Marian Convent Guild.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Gallagher of New York, NY, and Mrs. James Clausen of Toms River, New Jersey, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday, July 10 with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in the IHM Generalate Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Monday afternoon or evening.
