Sister M. Yvette Ireland, IHM
Sister M. Yvette Ireland, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Wednesday, August 24, 1994 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
She was born on November 8, 1912 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and given the name Louise. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Albert and Mattie Brady Ireland. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1932, received the religious habit on August 2, 1932, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1934.
Sister Yvette served as a music teacher at the following: Holy Name of Mary Catechetical Center in Montrose, PA; St. Patrick's Catechetical Center in Milford, PA; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Altoona, PA; St. Paul School in Edgewood, RI; as well as at schools located in Dunmore, Pittston, Hollidaysburg, Scranton, and Susquehanna, PA; and Baltimore, MD.
From 1978 until the time of her death, Sister Yvette served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.
She is preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Albert, Jr.
She is survived by a brother, Joseph, Upper Marlboro, MD, three sisters, Margaret Duley, Upper Marlboro, MD, Catherine Alexander, Philadelphia, PA, and Anne Kifer, Ormond Beach, FL, nieces and nephews.
Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.

In a most quiet, humble way, Sr. M. Yvette Ireland lived 61 years as a Sister of IHM, before entering eternal life. She had a special gift for music and shared its beauty and richness with children. In the last 16 years of her life, Sr. Yvette served the Congregation as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent. Willingly and lovingly, she bore the pain of her suffering with a twinkle in her eye and a most gentle smile.
