Sister M. Cecilia Kielty, IHM

Sister M. Cecilia Kielty, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Monday, November 4, 1985 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an extended illness.

She was born on July 4, 1903 in Archbald, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Kathryn Roche Kielty.  She entered the IHM Congregation on January 6, 1923, received the religious habit on August 15, 1923, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1925.

Sister Cecilia served as an English and foreign language teacher at the following schools: St. Patrick High School in Scranton, PA; St. John High School in Pittston, PA; St. Rose High School in Carbondale, PA; St. Basil High School in Dushore, PA; St. Joseph High School in Williamsport, PA; Most Holy Rosary High School in Syracuse, NY; and at a high school located in Masontown, PA.

From 1968 until the time of her death, Sister Cecilia served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Clair Patrick.

She is survived by a sister, Mary Dolorosa Dougher of Reisterstown, Maryland, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Thursday, November 7 with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the Marian Convent chapel. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Wednesday afternoon or evening.
