Sister M. Eileen McCrone, IHM

Sister M. Eileen McCrone, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Saturday, August 11, 1973 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on July 15, 1889 in Jermyn, Pennsylvania, and given the name Genevieve. She was the daughter of the late David and Sarah Moran McCrone. She entered the IHM Congregation on January 6, 1909, received the religious habit on October 15, 1910, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1912.

Sister Eileen served as a teacher in the following schools: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel High School in Altoona, PA; Marywood Seminary in Scranton, PA; St. Rose High School in Carbondal, PA; St. Paul High School in Scranton, PA; St. John the Evangelist High School in Pittston, PA; St. Leo High School in Ashley, PA; St. Ann High School in Scranton, PA; Holy Rosary High School in Scranton, PA; and St. Joseph High School in Williamsport.  She also served as superior at St. Michael's Industrial School for Boys in Hoban Heights, PA; and St. Ephrem Convent in Brooklyn, NY.  

From 1963 until the time of her death, Sister Eileen served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

 She was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael, David and John, and a sister, Mary.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
