Sister M. Matthias Walsh, IHM

Sister M. Matthias Walsh, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, June 19, 1956. 

Daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret Forkin Walsh, she was born on August 26, 1888 in Carbondale, Pennsylvania; and given the name Margaret Hildegarde.  She entered the IHM Congregation on July 2, 1905, received the religious habit on July 16, 1907, and made profession of her vows on April 13, 1909.

Sister Matthias enjoyed her years of teaching children in our IHM mission schools.

Interment will follow the Mass of Christian burial at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA.

Archival Reflection:

Sister Matthias, though suffering serious heart trouble, labored almost to the end, insisting that she was able to continue her apostolate of teaching, which she so thoroughly enjoyed.
