2015-2016 Fiscal Year Appeal Report

Retirement-Your support for our Retirement Fund supports the retirement needs of IHM sisters to remain safe and well cared for in their elder years.  Sisters may be living in Our Lady of Peace Residence or at the IHM Center on our main campus in Scranton, PA.  Many retired sisters continue to remain in their local residences and continue to serve and support their local communities through prayer and volunteer ministries.

Foreign Missions-Peru and Haiti Outreach- Support through special parish mission appeals and many individual donations support our congregation’s mission in Peru.  Currently five IHM Sisters minister in Peru.  The Haiti Outreach program is a cooperative venture of the three Congregations of IHM Sisters, Scranton, IHM Sisters, Immaculata, IHM Sisters, Monroe and the Oblate Sisters of Providence, Baltimore.  Funds collected through the IHM Scranton Congregation support the Little Sisters of St Therese in Haiti.

Ministries and Greatest Needs of the Congregation- Funds collected through Fall and Spring Appeals, the Connection Newsletter and through general donations support the many ministries of the congregation and IHM sisters in volunteer positions.  These funds support the greatest needs of the congregation, which are often unmet by specific designations, appeals or grants.  Hence, your gifts truly are a reflection of your partnership in our ministries.

Planned Gifts- Your gifts to support the IHM sisters and our ministries through remembrance in your will and through planned gifts of stocks, insurance policies and/or annuities are wonderful ways to participate in our Legacy of Friendship with the IHM sisters into the future.

Special Events-The Silver Circle program is a subscription program of monthly drawings for cash prizes to benefit the Retirement Fund.   The IHM Sisters Celebration is an annual gala sponsored by the Sisters of IHM Foundation.  Funds from the Sisters of IHM Foundation are donated the IHM Congregation each year to support the Retirement Fund.  These events engage many donors and friends from many areas of our ministries.

Special Project- Begun in 2016, Spirituality Ministries at the IHM Center was a major endeavor of the IHM sisters to upgrade audio-visual equipment and outreach, to “freshen up” meeting room and conference space, and to welcome and serve the spirituality needs of the sisters and our wider community.  Specific needs arose in the development of the exterior of the grounds, as well.  The need to improve parking, security and reflective spaces for our sisters and guests were impacted, and resulted in a broad statement of witness by our congregation to ministry, hospitality, care for our property and education.
