EWTN to Produce Documentary on Life of Mother Maria Kaupas, SSC

by Jake Betz, Director, Mother Maria Kaupas Center, Mt. Carmel, PA

I am pleased to announce that EWTN is producing a 30-minute documentary on Mother Maria Kaupas and Mount Carmel (the first mission of the Sisters of St. Casimir in 1908) and the Mother Maria Kaupas Center will be included.

This weekend, Sister Margaret Petcavage, of the Sisters of Saint Casimir, vice postulator for the Mother Maria's cause for sainthood, is coming east from Chicago to oversee some filming here.

On Saturday, October 27, 2018, a professional videographer from Chicago will be flying into Harrisburg and then driving to Carlisle to interview Father Marty Moran, former pastor of Divine Redeemer Church in Mt. Carmel and initiator of the opening of the MMKC. It is great to see this happening because the MMKC would never have happened without Father's "vision" and his expertise and leadership in pulling this off. Later in the day, the videographer and Sister Margaret will be in Danville to oversee filming of an interview with a Carmelite Sister who was healed from a very serious illness through Mother Maria's intercession.

On Sunday, there will be footage, following the 8:00 a.m. Mass at Divine Redeemer, of Father Fischer and a group of parishioners reciting the prayer for the beatification of Mother Maria. Later in the day, there will be interviews conducted at the Kaupas Center with me - and also with Carl and Shaunna from Bucknell University. We are so grateful to Shaunna and Carl for spending a large part of their weekend helping with this project.

What an honor it is for Mount Carmel and the Kaupas Center to be acknowledged for our part in the story of Maria Kaupas' amazing life and her continuing legacy.
