IHM Sister Receives MLK Distinguished Honor

The Greater Scranton Martin Luther King Commission honored Sister Donna Korba, IHM at the annual MLK dinner held on February 24 at The University of Scranton. Sister Donna was nominated for the “MLK Distinguished Honor” by Meghan Loftus, President/CEO of Friends of the Poor.

In presenting the award to Sister Donna, Cathy Hardaway, president of the MLK Commission, noted sister’s tireless efforts on behalf of justice issues and action in the community that is a constant force for change. Among many of Sister Donna’s efforts mentioned were her membership on the board of NETWORK, her regular service trips to Guatemala, her leadership in the Latino music ministry in Scranton, her leadership in the IHM land reclamation project, her participation in the Nuns on the Bus event and her recent service to asylum seekers at our southern border.

In closing, Cathy Hardaway said, “Sister Donna sees our world not for what it currently is, but for what it could be. She inspires hope in us for a more harmonious future.”
