Nuns on the Bus Visit Scranton

On July 25, NETWORK’s Nuns on the Bus traveled to Scranton as part of the 13 state, 23 city journey of offering an alternative to the polarization and fear that is prevalent in the election cycle. The journey was the fifth Nuns on the Bus campaign and the second to visit Scranton. Its message was a message of mending the gaps of wealth and income as well as the access gaps of housing, healthcare, citizenship and democracy.

Social service agencies from Northeastern Pennsylvania were invited to exhibit their services at the event. Sister Simone Campbell, executive director of NETWORK delivered the keynote speech in which she called upon all elected officials and candidates for elected office to hear the stories of real people who are struggling and falling through the gaps of society. She offered NETWORK’s strategic plan as a way forward to mending the gaps.
