IHM Sisters Attend Interfaith Vigil

Nearly fifty IHM Sisters attended the Interfaith Vigil at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Scranton on Saturday, February 18, 2017. The vigil was initiated in response to President Trump’s executive order banning travel of immigrants into the United States. Nearly twenty community and faith organizations planned Saturday’s event. The IHM Congregation was one of the event’s sponsors. Fred Mukell, a Congolese refugee, spoke on behalf of immigrants. Attired professionally by Clothesline for Men, a service of Friends of the Poor, Mr. Mukell spoke passionately on behalf of refugees noting that, “We don’t come because we’re terrorists…. We are peaceful people.” The vigil concluded with a procession to Courthouse Square.
