IHM Sisters Bid Fond Farewell to Little Sisters of the Poor

On behalf of the IHM Leadership Team and the IHM Center sisters, a dinner was held on June 18, 2019 in honor of the Little Sisters of the Poor who will be leaving Holy Family Residence in the near future. The sisters at the IHM Center warmly welcomed the Little Sisters of the Poor and sincerely thanked them for their presence and loving care for the elderly and infirm in the community. The Little Sisters have served in the Diocese of Scranton continuously since 1908 when they began their ministry at the Maloney Home, the first Catholic home dedicated to the care of the elderly poor of Scranton. In September 1976, Holy Family Residence, built on the same property, replaced the Maloney Home.
