Plaque to be Dedicated in Peru
In memory of Sister Jeanne Marie Kearney, her nephew, Michael Conaboy, has sponsored a plaque in her honor. He and his son will travel to Peru in January and will visit Mateo Pumacahua to dedicate the plaque in the school that Sister Jeanne Marie founded and served as director for many years. Sisters Norma and Tomasa have invited Michael and his son to stay with them in Chorrillos during their visit. A simple ceremony and reception to mark the event has been planned by the sisters and Yolanda, the school principal, and Tona Pizarro, an IHM friend.
Michael Conaboy, an engineer, is a volunteer with Engineers without Borders. He will be working with that group in
January for 2 weeks on a project in the northern part of Peru. He visited Sister Jeanne Marie in the past and was
greatly impressed with the school and Sister’s ministry.
The plaque reads:
In memory of our beloved Sister Coletta Kearney, IHM
Founder and First Director of the I.E.I. St. Francis of Assis Mateo Pumacahua, Lima, Peru
She loved and served her Peruvian brothers and sisters during the years 1970-2016
From the Conaboy family, 2017
